Sara i René Viticultors

General

The history of Priorat continues at Sara i René Viticultors. Sara Perez is the daughter of Josep Lluís Pérez Verdún, and René Barbier (the fourth of that name in the family) is the son of the bearded René Barbier. Sara and René have both always lived surrounded by winemaking. They found each other and wanted to start a project of their own, one in which they could put their own experience and vision of winemaking into practice.

Location

Before Sara and René bought the Els Bellvisos estate, the plots had lain abandoned since before chemicals were in general use in viticulture. The vineyard has extremely steep slopes, and building traditional terraces has not been possible. Sara and René have, however, learned methods by which, with the help of mules and by maintaining biodiversity, growing grapes is possible without causing excessive soil erosion. 

The wines

In this project Sara and René have been free from the history of the Glos Mogador and Mas Martinet estates, already known around the world. They have been able to make entirely unique wines. The wines have nuances of natural wines and beautifully express the soil and the climatic complexity of the Els Bellvisos vineyard. Production volumes are small. These are wines that every wine enthusiast ought to experience.
