Ponte 1948
Veneto , Italy
Overview
Ponte was founded during the post-war reconstruction as a collaboration between 12 winemakers. Today it is one of Italy's major wine producers. It works together with 1,000 families who cultivate grapes across more than 3,000 hectares. Ponte also has a significant social impact in the region through the projects it supports.
Location
Ponte operates in the provinces of Venice and Treviso in the Veneto wine region. Its main estate is located in Ponte di Piave. The soils of the area are hard clay combined with light sand deposited by the Piave river. The climate of the wine region is significantly influenced by the Alps to the north and the Adriatic Sea to the south. Temperatures and rainfall are ideal for growing grapes.
The wines
In addition to the Ponte range, Ponte produces wines in four different ranges: Gio, Campe Dhei, Terre del Doge and Cantina Trevigiana. The most widely grown grapes are Pinot Grigio, Merlot, Chardonnay and Glera. It produces wines under appellations including Prosecco DOC, Prosecco Superiore DOCG and DOC delle Venezie.
